My world's (was) on fire, how 'bout yours?

Alas, this comes a bit late, but I do hope that everyone in SoCal whose eyes have peeped upon this page once or twice (and their families) are well. My family and their houses are fine, but one of my friends did lose their house from the Fallbrook fire. Maddy, although I cannot perhaps understand the scope of your loss, I am greatly saddened by it and hope that if you need ANYTHING that you will let me know.

Last week was hectic to say the least: listening endlessly to the news, waiting for an evacuation notice, looking outside and seeing the glow of flames only a few miles away, and smelling the stinging fumes of smoke...No bueno.

My school started up again this Wednesday. Our community has really come together to help those who have lost their houses in the area. Everyone is trying to get back into the normal rhythm of things and judging by the resilience of San Diego traffic I'd say for the most part they have.

What else has happened this week? Well the lovely date of Nov. 1st has past. The importance of this date will surely ring for any senior who is applying Early Action/ Early Decision/ Restricted Early Action to any colleges. My applications for MIT and Caltech are in! I'll find out whether the schools fancy me or not in mid to late December. In fact, I'll probably hear from them before I find out from Comic Con whether I'll be a vendor for the 2008 Con.

Another monumental event that occurred this week...
I...got...an...upright....*drum roll* BASS!!!!! And it is beautiful! The color is gorgeous and I think the sound is great (I add the "I think" because I will not official purchase it until I have my bass teacher approves it, since he is quite an authority on all things bassy). I've probably played it for a few hours already even though I've only had it since 6 o'clock yesterday. My fingers hurt and I love it.

Unfortunately, I have to take a respite from bass playing to do this thing called homework. One of my more enjoyable assignments will be to adapt the Shakespeare play, Othello, into a screenplay for a black and white 30s Gangster movie...and yes I will sooooo put my bass in it.

I also have some new shirts coming in. They'll be a bit late because of the infernal delay. I must say, they will be sweet.

Catch ya later, folks!
